What SSAT Quantitative (Math) Practice Covers

SSAT Quantitative measures math reasoning, not just computation. This free SSAT Quantitative practice set — and strong SSAT math practice overall — covers number concepts, fractions, decimals and percents, ratios, basic algebra, geometry, and multi-step word problems. On the Middle and Upper levels there are two Quantitative sections of 25 questions each (30 minutes apiece); the Elementary level has a single 30-question section. A calculator is not permitted, so mental-math fluency pays off.

Guessing: the Middle and Upper levels apply a quarter-point penalty for wrong answers, so eliminate what you can before guessing, and leave a question blank only when you truly can’t narrow it down.

How to Practice SSAT Math Effectively

Read each problem twice and underline exactly what it asks for — many misses come from solving for the wrong quantity. Estimate before you compute so an unreasonable answer stands out, and when a problem stalls, plug in the answer choices. Review every explanation, even on questions you got right, to lock in the fastest method.

Treat daily SSAT math practice as skill reps: arithmetic fluency one day, geometry the next, then mixed word problems. When you miss a question here, redo it from scratch with the explanation so the approach sticks on the next Quantitative section.

Elementary, Middle & Upper Math

Match the level selector to your grade: Elementary (grades 3–4), Middle (grades 5–7), or Upper (grades 8–11). Middle and Upper both use two timed Quantitative sections with the same structure, but Upper problems lean harder on algebra and multi-step reasoning. Elementary SSAT math practice is a single section with no wrong-answer penalty. Switching levels refreshes today’s free SSAT Quantitative practice questions for that band.
