How GRE Score Calculators Work

Each GRE section is scored by converting your raw score — the number of questions you answer correctly — into a scaled score from 130 to 170 in one-point increments. Because the GRE is section-adaptive, your performance on the first Verbal or Quant section determines the difficulty of the second, which in turn affects how raw scores map to scaled scores.

Our calculators use representative conversion tables to give you a realistic estimate, then show the percentile that score falls in so you know how you compare to other test-takers. Treat the results as a well-calibrated estimate for setting targets and tracking progress — the official conversion shifts slightly from one administration to the next.
