About the GMAT Data Insights Section
Data Insights is the signature section of the GMAT Focus Edition: 20 questions in 45 minutes, measuring how well you interpret and combine information from tables, graphs, and text the way a modern analyst does. Unlike Quant, Data Insights provides an on-screen calculator.
Study tip: Read the question before you dive into the data. Many Data Insights prompts hand you far more information than you need — knowing the question first tells you which row, column, or trend actually matters.

The Five Data Insights Question Types
- Data Sufficiency — decide whether the given statements are enough to answer the question (moved here from Quant in the Focus Edition).
- Multi-Source Reasoning — combine information across several tabs of text, tables, and charts.
- Table Analysis — sort and analyze a spreadsheet-style table to judge a set of statements.
- Graphics Interpretation — read a graph and complete statements from drop-down menus.
- Two-Part Analysis — solve problems with two linked components in a single answer table.
